Open Day Cards

Thank you to everyone who came along to the Open Day last Saturday, lovely to meet lots of new ladies and hope you picked up at least one or 2 ideas or tips from the demonstration!

These are two of the cards I made....

Yes, I know we are still in August but I made a Christmas Card!

This card demonstrated a variety of techniques including heat embossing with gold embossing powder using a heat tool with the winter tree stamp. The edges of the cardstock and papers are inked with peeled paint distress ink using a blending tool. To finish off the card I put  gold square brads in the corners and gold stickles on the tree. Most of these products sold out at the Open Day but restocks are coming soon if you are after any of them!

This next card is one of my favourites and so quick and easy to make. The paper is from the Abrianna Mat Pad matted onto pale blue card stock, with the edges inked with blue ink. I then wrapped purple embroidery thread (3 strands) around it, taping it on the back to secure and placed a butterfly from the gorgeous Abrianna Grand Adhesions pack over the area where the threads crossed.

Two exciting things happening at S J Crafts over the coming week.....
  • I'll be posting a Giveaway tomorrow!
  • S J Crafts are putting together a small design team (scrapping & cardmaking!) ~ more details of how to apply coming soon!
Enjoy the rest of your day! x

Butterfly Cards & Clearance 12" x 12" Papers

I have been busy preparing for the demonstration for this Saturday's Open day and I have just realised that I didn't share the cards from the last Open Day back in July!

These two were my favourites as they are so quick and easy to make!

I used white square card blanks, trimmed a sheet of paper from the Abrianna Pad  to size. I love the K & Co Mat pads because they are double sided and at 4.75" X 6.75" the papers are just right for square cards without too much trimming. I just needed to cut 2" off the top and used this strip to punch the butterflies from using the Martha Stewart Butterfly Punch and adhered them with a dot of glue down the centre leaving their wings free. I love how the reverse side of the paper co ordinates beautifully with the background. A gemstone and stickles on each butterfly to finish. Easy!!

The 2nd card was the same but I used the crystal stickles to create a flight trail, stamped a greeting and added 3 gems in the corner. Paper is also from the Abrianna Pad.

I have sorted through the 12" x 12" Papers and added lots to the Clearance Sale at just 25p each. These include the K & Co Poppyseed Collection and Fancy Pants Little Sprout and Dancing Girl Collections.

More papers will be added over the next few days.

The giveaway that I have been meaning to do for ages should be up tomorrow!

Distress Inks and Border Punches

.... are two of my favourite crafting supplies right now!!

I quickly made this card this morning using both.

The background is kraft bazzill card stock mounted onto a white square card blank with a sheet from life of the party 6" X 6" Pad trimmed to fit and the edge punched with my Fiskars Border Punch (which are on order and will be in the shop very soon!). All the edges of the paper & card stock are inked with a blending tool and distress ink. The stamp is from a lovely set I ordered at my friends crafting "party" a couple of weeks ago and I stamped it with peeled paint distress ink. I added little gemstones and a stamped greeting to finish.

I'm really looking forward to seeing some of you at our July Open Day. See here for all the info!

Don't worry if you can't make it to this one as I've already booked in our August Day so put the 27th August in your diaries!

Giveaway coming soon .... promise!
